CBS is the first network to pick up shows for the 2012-2013 season. Here’s the rundown on CBS’s lineup so far for next fall (or, if it must, midseason).
*It looks like LL Cool J will continue to roam around the Paramount set, as “NCIS: LA” will return. CBS has also renewed its parent show (and highest rated television series) “NCIS.”
*2012 People’s Choice Award winner and freshman show “Person of Interest,” starring Jim Caviezel is on board. And surprisingly (to me, at least), freshman comedy “2 Broke Girls” has also been picked up.
I’m questioning this return as well…
*Comedies “How I Met Your Mother” and “The Big Bang Theory” previously signed multiyear agreements, so they have already been on the 2012-13 list. CBS has also renewed “Mike and Molly” for a 4th season. But not all comedies have been picked up as of yet. On the brink of cancellation are “Two and a Half Men,” “Rules of Engagement,” and “Rob.”
*Other shows returning for 2012-2013 lineup are “Blue Bloods,” “The Good Wife,” “Hawaii 5-0,” “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation,” and “Criminal Minds.”
*Dramas that have yet to pick up a deal are “A Gifted Man,” “Unforgettable,” “CSI: NY,” and “CSI: Miami.”
*Reality shows and news programs “The Amazing Race,” “Undercover Boss,” “60 Minutes,” “Survivor,” and “48 Hours Mystery” are also set to return.
So far, so good. We’ll see if CBS will remain as the prominent television network next fall, as pilot season rolls around and other networks make their choices for returning series.
And in other news…
I know, I know. Community isn’t a CBS show. But I can’t help my excitement!
We all know by now that Community is back (TODAY!), but the show has also won a syndication contract with Comedy Central starting in 2013. Yay! Thank you, Comedy Central!
And with that, I’ll leave you with this awesome Prometheus-inspired trailer for its return.
