It’s that time of year again, where TV networks repeatedly run promos of pilot shows for their fall lineup. Which shows will survive the pitfalls of ratings, and which will remain in Netflix’s future Watch Instantly queue?
A few weeks ago I listed FOX’s pilot shows for the 2012-13 season, providing my unnecessary opinion on each new show based on the premise and the people associated with the projects. And now the promos are out. Now we can gauge a little bit more on the style of each pilot. These teasers are meant to capture the audience’s attention so that we can boost up their networks’ ratings for the first episode. The next set of promos will be of people’s responses to the pilot episode. “A must see,” “You won’t want to miss this,” etc). And then you watch it. Some pilots are good, but others are bad. Really, really bad. Here’s to hoping this season will fair better than last for FOX.
The Mob Doctor – A surgeon at a prominent hospital in Chicago is forced to work for the mafia
Wednesdays, 9PM (after “Bones”)
Ben & Kate – A man helps his sister raise her child
Tuesdays, 8:30PM (after “Raising Hope” & before “The New Girl”)
The Mindy Project – An OB-GYN doctor tries to balance her work and personal life with her coworkers
Tuesdays, 9:30PM (after “The New Girl”)
As for “The Goodwin Games” and “The Following,” which I’ve previously posted about, they have been pushed back to mid-season.
I’m uber excited for “The Mob Doctor.” I love Joradana Spiro and think she’s an amazing actress. I’m surprised she hasn’t done more stuff after “My Boys.” And I’m glad to see that she’s doing a drama this time around. I don’t think “Ben and Kate” will last very long, but I do think that “The Mindy Project” has a chance. What do you guys think?
