2013 Emmy Noms prove Netflix is changing TV

After a quick glance at today’s Emmy nominations, I think we can all admit the line between film and TV is practically nonexistent. Netflix’s “House of Cards” (David Fincher, Kevin Spacey, Robin Wright and the show itself ) and “Arrested Development” (Jason Bateman) both got love from the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. Hmmm, I wonder if having the entire season of a show available at once is going to be the new standard for online TV?

Immediate reactions:
Where is…
“Community”? I know this season was a hot mess, but still…)
“Happy Endings”? #savehappyendings
the writing staff from “Parks and Rec”? This past season was LITERALLY the only reason I remember NBC was a channel.

I was also very happy to see Kerry Washington get recognized for “Scandal” (Lead Actress in a Drama Series). Now I couldn’t make it through the pilot, BUT it is pretty damn nice to see a Black woman leading a network show. Fun fact: The last time a Black actress was up for Lead Actress was in 1995!

You can check out the full list of nominees HERE.

The 65th annual Primetime Emmy Awards will air on September 22 on CBS.

P.S. I love that the Academy called Neil Patrick Harris to fill in for Kate Mara at this morning’s announcements. Will they just get him to host the Oscars already!
